Find your model

Bluetooth tracker batteries

Short answer: most replaceable Bluetooth trackers take one CR2032 — but check the model. Older Tile Mate (2018/2020) uses CR1632; some Tile and Chipolo models are sealed with no coin cell to buy. Match your unit in the table below.

Common questions

What battery does an AirTag use?
One CR2032 lithium coin cell — not CR2025 or CR2016 (same face size, wrong thickness). Press and twist the stainless cover. Apple recommends a bitterant-coated CR2032 labelled compatible with AirTag.
Do Samsung SmartTag and Tile use the same battery as AirTag?
SmartTag, SmartTag+, SmartTag2, Tile Pro, and Chipolo ONE / ONE Spot also take one CR2032. Older Tile Mate (2018/2020) uses a thinner CR1632. Newer Tile Mate / Slim / Sticker and Chipolo CARD lines are sealed — no coin cell to buy. Match your exact model in the table below.
How do I replace a SmartTag2 battery?
Insert an ejection pin or small clip into the rear tray hole, pull the tray out, replace the CR2032 with the positive (+) aligned to the tray mark, and reinsert the tray. If the tag sounds immediately after insertion, remove and reseat the cell — wrong tray orientation can prevent recognition.
My Tile has no battery door — what do I buy?
Often nothing. Mate 2022/2024, Slim, and Sticker are sealed non-replaceable per Tile. Only older Mate (2018/2020, CR1632) and Pro generations with a door take a user coin cell.

Which generation do you have?

Generation / modelBatteryReplaceable?Notes
Apple AirTag1 × CR2032YesPress and twist the stainless cover. Not CR2025 or CR2016 (same face size, wrong thickness). Apple recommends a bitterant-coated CR2032 labelled compatible with AirTag.
Samsung Galaxy SmartTag21 × CR2032YesUse an ejection pin or small clip in the rear tray hole, pull the tray, replace the CR2032 with + on the tray mark, then reinsert. Current model in Samsung’s SmartTag line.
Samsung Galaxy SmartTag / SmartTag+1 × CR2032YesSame CR2032 tray pattern as SmartTag2. Older SmartTag / SmartTag+ are discontinued — open the SmartTag2 page if your unit is labelled SmartTag2.
Tile Pro (2018–2024 replaceable)1 × CR2032YesSlide-off battery door (2024 Pro: paperclip in the pinhole above the door). Tile Support recommends Panasonic, Maxell, or EVE. Confirm you have a Pro with a door — not a sealed Mate, Slim, or Sticker.
Tile Mate (2018 / 2020 only)1 × CR1632YesCR1632 — thinner and smaller diameter than CR2032. Mate 2022 / 2024, Slim, and Sticker are sealed; if there is no battery door, do not force the case open.
Chipolo ONE / ONE Spot1 × CR2032YesOpen at the side gap; positive / printed text facing up. Chipolo CARD / CARD Spot are sealed renew products — not coin-cell trays.
Sealed trackers (Tile Mate 2022+, Slim, Sticker, Chipolo CARD…)Built-in — not a user coin cellNoNo battery door means nothing to buy at the counter. Replace or renew the whole unit per the manufacturer — do not invent a CR2032 fitment for sealed models.

Continue to a verified device

Open the exact model page for chemistry, quantity, and sources — family charts alone are not a substitute for a verified device answer.

Still not working?

Confirm the exact model and whether a battery door or tray exists. Wrong thickness (CR2032 vs CR1632 vs CR2025) and sealed generations are the usual misses. Keep coin cells away from children; recycle spent lithium coins.
