How we work

BatteryByDevice is an independent guide. Answers come from manufacturer manuals, with pack labels matched only when they mean the same battery.

Where the answers come from

We start with the manufacturer’s own materials: owner’s manuals, support pages and official product pages.

Shop listings and generic “battery finder” sites are not enough on their own.

If the maker says a device uses a CR2032, that is the answer we show for that model.

Manufacturer sources first

When an answer is checked against the maker’s documents, we say so clearly.

On each device page, Sources lists the manuals and support articles we used — labelled as product manual, manufacturer support, or product page — with the site hostname so you can recognise the maker.

We also show when it was last checked, and offer a search to find more manuals from that manufacturer.

We do not invent a lab team or anonymous experts. Trust comes from the sources, not from marketing.

How we handle pack labels

Packs often print different labels for the same battery — for example AG13 for LR44, or DL2032 for CR2032. We match those when they really are the same battery.

We do not guess from look-alike spellings alone.

AG13LR44

Same battery

Same battery, different label.

DL2032CR2032

Also sold as

Brand or pack name for the same battery.

Same size is not always the same battery

A battery can fit the slot and still be the wrong type — for example LR44 vs SR44.

We label each link clearly: same battery, also sold as, same size but different type, or not a substitute.

We never treat every related code as a drop-in replacement.

Same size, different type

Fits the same slot. Different type — check the manual.

Not a substitute

Looks similar. Not a substitute.

Corrections

If a manual changes or we get something wrong, we update the page from a better source and refresh the last-checked date.

A simple way for visitors to send corrections will be added as we grow coverage.

Shopping links vs the answer

Buy links and equipment search links are optional helpers for finding a pack or tool to purchase.

Some buy links may be affiliate or merchant-search links. They never change the battery answer from the manufacturer.

Ads, when we show them, sit below the main answer and are never dressed up as a recommendation.

Life-safety and medical devices (for example smoke alarms and hearing aids) carry extra cautions on those pages — always follow the product label and qualified advice.
