Important

  • OEM specifies silver oxide (G-10 / SR-1130 / 389 / RW49) — not LR1130 / AG10 alkaline.
  • Legacy calculator; battery access may require tools and careful reassembly.
  • Button cells are a choking hazard — keep new and used cells away from children.

Helpful for this device

Optional tools for opening, testing or charging — separate from the battery answer.

Amazon links may earn us a commission. They do not change the battery answer.

  • Digital multimeter

Measure open-circuit voltage and general electronics checks

Voltage alone does not establish usable capacity, especially for rechargeables.

New battery but still not working?

A fresh 2 × SR1130 should restore Sharp EL-8130 if the battery was the problem. Work through the checks below before replacing the device.

  1. Check orientation

Confirm the cell is seated correctly: Match factory cell polarity / service diagram

  2. Check the battery type

This device needs 2 × SR1130 (silver_oxide). Rechargeable cells are not supported for this device. Same size does not always mean the same battery.

  3. Check known model-specific issues

Re-pairing or a short reset may be required after a battery change. OEM specifies silver oxide (G-10 / SR-1130 / 389 / RW49) — not LR1130 / AG10 alkaline. Legacy calculator; battery access may require tools and careful reassembly. Button cells are a choking hazard — keep new and used cells away from children.

  4. Confirm the battery itself

For most coin cells, fitting a known-good fresh cell of the correct code is simpler than capacity testing.

  5. Still not responding?

If a correct, fresh battery installed properly does not restore the device, the fault may be elsewhere — the device may need service or replacement.

These checks follow this device’s orientation, battery type, and important notes from the maker.
