Pentax ME Super battery
2 × 1.5V alkaline button cell
The Pentax ME Super takes two LR44 alkaline or SR44 / G13 silver-oxide cells for the electronics. This is not a PX625 mercury meter cell (a common Spotmatic-era confusion). Strong UK search interest; same dual button-cell pattern as many late-1970s electronic SLRs.

How to replace it
| Compartment | Battery chamber in the camera base |
|---|---|
| How to open | Open the battery chamber cover with a coin; insert two LR44/SR44 cells with the polarity shown (often + facing down). |
| Orientation | Follow diagram in the chamber / manual |
| Low battery indicator | Viewfinder LEDs flicker when batteries are low; fail to light when dead |
| Notes | Replace both cells together. Not a PX625 mercury meter cell. |
| Access | Coin or simple twist |
Important
- Takes two LR44 alkaline or SR44 / G13 silver-oxide cells — not a PX625 mercury cell (common confusion with Spotmatic-era Pentax).
- UK search interest is strong for this model; same dual button-cell pattern as many late-1970s electronics SLRs.
- One CR13N is sometimes used as a substitute; the manual centres on two 1.5V cells.
- Keep button cells away from children.

New battery but still not working?
A fresh 2 × LR44 should restore Pentax ME Super if the battery was the problem. Work through the checks below before replacing the device.
- Check orientation
Confirm the cell is seated correctly: Follow diagram in the chamber / manual
- Check the battery type
This device needs 2 × LR44 (alkaline). Rechargeable cells are not supported for this device. Same size does not always mean the same battery.
- Check known model-specific issues

- Confirm the battery itself
For most coin cells, fitting a known-good fresh cell of the correct code is simpler than capacity testing.
- Still not responding?
If a correct, fresh battery installed properly does not restore the device, the fault may be elsewhere — the device may need service or replacement.
