Minolta X-700 battery
2 × 1.5V alkaline button cell
The Minolta X-700 takes two LR44 alkaline, two SR44 silver oxide, or one CR13N (CR1/3N) lithium — per the user manual. Do not use 1.35V mercury MR44 lookalikes. The camera needs live cells for shutter and meter.

How to replace it
| Compartment | Battery chamber in the camera base |
|---|---|
| How to open | Open the base battery cover. Insert either two LR44/SR44 button cells or one CR1/3N lithium cell matching polarity marks. |
| Orientation | Follow polarity marks inside the chamber |
| Low battery indicator | Viewfinder LED battery check / exposure indicators fail when the cell is weak |
| Notes | Electronic shutter and meter need live cells — the X-700 is not a fully mechanical body. |
| Access | Tool-free |
Important
- Takes either 2× LR44 (alkaline) / 2× SR44 (silver oxide) or 1× CR1/3N lithium — not a mix of random button cells.
- Do not use 1.35V mercury MR44 / PX625-class cells; the manual forbids mercury lookalikes.
- Camera needs power for shutter and meter — it will not operate correctly with dead cells.
- Keep button cells away from children.

New battery but still not working?
A fresh 2 × LR44 should restore Minolta X-700 if the battery was the problem. Work through the checks below before replacing the device.
- Check orientation
Confirm the cell is seated correctly: Follow polarity marks inside the chamber
- Check the battery type
This device needs 2 × LR44 (alkaline). Rechargeable cells are not supported for this device. Same size does not always mean the same battery.
- Check known model-specific issues
Takes either 2× LR44 (alkaline) / 2× SR44 (silver oxide) or 1× CR1/3N lithium — not a mix of random button cells. Do not use 1.35V mercury MR44 / PX625-class cells; the manual forbids mercury lookalikes. Camera needs power for shutter and meter — it will not operate correctly with dead cells.
- Confirm the battery itself
For most coin cells, fitting a known-good fresh cell of the correct code is simpler than capacity testing.
- Still not responding?
If a correct, fresh battery installed properly does not restore the device, the fault may be elsewhere — the device may need service or replacement.
