Important

  • 2× AA — not AAA. Later Magic Remotes (e.g. AN-MR22GA) are the same AA family unless LG documents otherwise.
  • TV model alone is not enough — confirm the remote part number on the back (AN-MR…).

New battery but still not working?

A fresh 2 × AA should restore LG Magic Remote AN-MR21GA if the battery was the problem. Work through the checks below before replacing the device.

  1. Check orientation

Confirm the cell is seated correctly: Match polarity marks in the compartment

  2. Check the battery type

This device needs 2 × AA (alkaline). Supported chemistry: alkaline. Same size does not always mean the same battery.

  3. Check known model-specific issues

Re-pairing or a short reset may be required after a battery change. 2× AA — not AAA. Later Magic Remotes (e.g. AN-MR22GA) are the same AA family unless LG documents otherwise. TV model alone is not enough — confirm the remote part number on the back (AN-MR…).

  4. Confirm the battery itself

If you have a battery tester or multimeter, check the cell. A low open-circuit voltage often means replace; for rechargeable AA/AAA, a capacity test is more informative than voltage alone.

  5. Still not responding?

If a correct, fresh battery installed properly does not restore the device, the fault may be elsewhere — the device may need service or replacement.

These checks follow this device’s orientation, battery type, and important notes from the maker.
