LG TV remote batteries
LG remotes vary by Magic Remote generation and region. We do not invent a battery from the TV model alone — open the door or check LG’s remote part number (AN-MR…) first. Documented Magic Remote AN-MR21GA uses 2× AA.
Which generation do you have?
| Generation / model | Battery | Replaceable? | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| LG Magic Remote AN-MR21GA | 2 × AA | Yes | LG US MR21GA PDF: two AA batteries. Later Magic Remotes in the same family are typically AA — confirm the AN-MR part on the back. |
| Other LG Magic Remote / pointer remotes | Usually 2 × AA — confirm part number | Yes | Do not assume AAA from older IR remotes. Read the door or LG support for your AN-MR model. |
| Basic IR LG remotes | Read the tray | Yes | Simpler IR remotes usually have a sliding door with polarity marks. Confirm AA vs AAA and count before buying. |
| Need a replacement LG TV remote | Battery type first, then OEM remote | Yes | If the remote is lost or dead after fresh tray-correct cells, buy an LG-compatible Magic Remote for your TV series. Confirm AA vs AAA on the old remote or LG’s parts list before ordering. |
| Unsure which remote you have | Identify first — no cell yet | No | Find the remote model on the back (AN-MR…). TV model alone is not enough. |

Still not working?
Fit only the tray-labelled cells. If fresh correct cells fail, an official LG replacement remote for your TV series is the hardware path — identify battery type before shopping for a new remote.
