Bose A30 Aviation Headset (battery / dual GA) battery
2 × 1.5V alkaline cell
How to replace it
| How to open | When battery light blinks red, replace cells. Open control-module battery cover (finger indent + slide). Insert two AA batteries. Close cover firmly. |
|---|---|
| Orientation | Observe polarity marks |
| Low battery indicator | Battery light blinks red when replacement needed; amber may indicate <8 hours remaining |
| Notes | Alkaline preferred for best results and accurate life indication. Other chemistries (incl. rechargeable) allowed but may change runtime/indicator accuracy. |
| Access | Tool-free |
Important
- AA alkaline preferred; other chemistries may work but life indication may be inaccurate (unlike A20 alkaline-only rule).
- Aircraft-powered A30 variants bypass batteries when aircraft power is applied — batteries optional as backup.

New battery but still not working?
A fresh 2 × AA should restore Bose A30 Aviation Headset (battery / dual GA) if the battery was the problem. Work through the checks below before replacing the device.
- Check orientation
Confirm the cell is seated correctly: Observe polarity marks
- Check the battery type
This device needs 2 × AA (alkaline). Supported chemistry: alkaline. Rechargeable cells are not supported for this device. Same size does not always mean the same battery.
- Check known model-specific issues
AA alkaline preferred; other chemistries may work but life indication may be inaccurate (unlike A20 alkaline-only rule). Aircraft-powered A30 variants bypass batteries when aircraft power is applied — batteries optional as backup.
- Confirm the battery itself
If you have a battery tester or multimeter, check the cell. A low open-circuit voltage often means replace; for rechargeable AA/AAA, a capacity test is more informative than voltage alone.
- Still not responding?
If a correct, fresh battery installed properly does not restore the device, the fault may be elsewhere — the device may need service or replacement.
