Nikon Coolpix L120 battery
4 × 1.5V alkaline cell
The Nikon Coolpix L120 takes four AA batteries: alkaline (LR6/L40), lithium primary (FR6/L91), or Nikon EN-MH2 NiMH. EN-MH1 is not compatible. After changing chemistry, set Setup menu → Battery type to Alkaline, COOLPIX (Ni-MH), or Lithium. Charge EN-MH2 four at a time with MH-73.
How to replace it
| Compartment | Battery chamber in the camera body |

Important
- Takes 4× AA — alkaline (LR6/L40), lithium primary (FR6/L91), or Nikon EN-MH2 NiMH only.
- EN-MH1 rechargeable NiMH batteries are not compatible per Nikon.
- Do not treat EN-MH2 approval as blanket approval for all NiMH brands.
- Set the Battery type menu to match the cells you installed.
- Charge EN-MH2 four at a time with Battery Charger MH-73.

New battery but still not working?
A fresh 4 × AA should restore Nikon Coolpix L120 if the battery was the problem. Work through the checks below before replacing the device.
- Check orientation
Confirm the cell is seated correctly: Follow polarity marks inside the chamber
- Check the battery type
This device needs 4 × AA (alkaline). Supported chemistry: alkaline, lithium_primary, NiMH. Rechargeable cells are only suitable when the manufacturer accepts that chemistry — set battery type in device settings if available. Same size does not always mean the same battery.
- Check known model-specific issues
Takes 4× AA — alkaline (LR6/L40), lithium primary (FR6/L91), or Nikon EN-MH2 NiMH only. EN-MH1 rechargeable NiMH batteries are not compatible per Nikon. Do not treat EN-MH2 approval as blanket approval for all NiMH brands.
- Confirm the battery itself
If you have a battery tester or multimeter, check the cell. A low open-circuit voltage often means replace; for rechargeable AA/AAA, a capacity test is more informative than voltage alone.
- Still not responding?
If a correct, fresh battery installed properly does not restore the device, the fault may be elsewhere — the device may need service or replacement.
