Genie GIT-1 battery

1 × 12V alkaline cell

Genie GIT-1 uses one A23 (12 Volt) alkaline cell — not CR2032. Confirm GIT-1 / ACSCTG Type 1 / B8QACSCT on the transmitter; many newer Genie remotes use a coin cell instead. Programming is retained when you change the battery.

NotesGenie: wireless devices retain programming during battery replacement. Identify by transmitter model (GIT-1 / ACSCTG Type 1 / B8QACSCT) — not by opener model alone. Newer Genie remotes may use CR2032 instead.

Important

  • Not every Genie remote uses A23 — many newer Intellicode remotes use CR2032. Confirm GIT-1 / part numbers on the transmitter.
  • A23 is not A27 (thinner 12V sibling) and not a Samsung Galaxy A23 phone battery.

New battery but still not working?

A fresh 1 × A23 should restore Genie GIT-1 (1-button) if the battery was the problem. Work through the checks below before replacing the device.

  1. Check orientation

Confirm the cell is seated correctly: Match polarity markings in the compartment

  2. Check the battery type

This device needs 1 × A23 (alkaline). Rechargeable cells are not supported for this device. Same size does not always mean the same battery.

  3. Check known model-specific issues

Not every Genie remote uses A23 — many newer Intellicode remotes use CR2032. Confirm GIT-1 / part numbers on the transmitter. A23 is not A27 (thinner 12V sibling) and not a Samsung Galaxy A23 phone battery.

  4. Confirm the battery itself

Try a known-good fresh cell of the exact code listed above.

  5. Still not responding?

If a correct, fresh battery installed properly does not restore the device, the fault may be elsewhere — the device may need service or replacement.

Replacing the device?

Genie GIT-1 (1-button) is still sold new. Only consider a replacement if the checks above did not help.
